Midland Taxes Must get lowered

New council will be deliberating over the proposed budget which currently sits at an overall increase to spend of 5.01% for 2011. Former councillor McKay was recently sworn in as the new Mayor, and is committed to keep taxes below the inflation rate. This means approximately $550,000.00 needs to be pulled out of the budget as it is currently defined today. January will be a bumpy month and we need your support by attending all council and budget meetings until this budget monster is put to rest. The responsible exercise is about spending within our means. This tough economy coupled with a declining/shifting tax base, demands different thinking and different leadership. We will be making a deputation to council on December 20th to advance our concerns as well as providing some solutions. Please stay tuned and please stay involved!
